The Durham Dales route's are very popular all year round and in particular during the summer months with motorists / tourists / motorcyclists. The route's eventually lead to Alston (in Cumbria) and continue via Hartside Cafe to the Lake District. These rural route's are fantastic roads for motorcycling but bring with them additional dangers which rider's should look out for, as they have sadly also claimed the lives of many riders over the years.
Durham Police Motorcycle Section have produced two handy maps which they are distributing from their office (0191-3752136) or if you stop... or get stopped by one of the motorcycle section officers they will be able to suppply you with a one. If  all else fails print off the maps from here.
